Chainmaille Tutorial Part 1: The Tools and Coiling Wire Video Clips. Duration : 10.00 Mins.

A video showing the technique and the basic tools for making a chainmaille coil, which can then be cut into open rings for weaving chainmaille. The first of two initial parts. List of things to get started: #1- 2 pairs of pliers #2- Mini bolt cutters #3- Wire (1/4 mile of Galvanized steel is only at Tractor Supply. The cheapest I've found so far. That should be enough wire to make a complete hauberk.) #4- Smooth Metal Rod #5- Power Drill w/ .5" chuck (unless your going the hand-powered mandrill route which produces better rings at a slower rate.) #6- Leather Work Gloves (good for guiding wire onto the rod when winding rings.) All in all, it shouldn't cost more than for the equipment. After that, wire is really cheap if you buy it in 1/4 mile spools. Otherwise, you can buy various different kinds of wire metals from theringlord.com
